Custom Wall Art

To create a visually engaging wall display that immediately communicates the school’s Christian values and educational journey to everyone entering the school. The display also needed to integrate with curriculum mapping, showing how values are taught from Nursery and EYFS through Key Stages 1 and 2, illustrating the journey and development of each child.

The goal of this project was to bring Christian faith and values to the forefront of Thurgoland Primary School’s identity. We had a consultation with the school. SLT sat down and kind of outlined what the Christian faith values were. We explored some ways to do that. I showed some examples of things we've done in other schools before. We mapped out an idea through the wall display to really hit the kind of engagement level at the highest. And it's also available as a digital document, which is in all their slide decks when they're speaking to the wider community.

The process then was to create a visual graphic, bringing all the brand elements and stuff that we've done previously, like the logo mark, expanding on that, bringing in a bit of an illustrative system of graphics in the brand colors, using characters that show diversity and inclusivity, which is a big prominent factor in that area of Barnsley.

We had a signage company come in to it all out, accounted for every plug socket, every fold in the wall, the height of the ceiling, windows - everything got considered. We actually changed from one wall space to another because it was supposed to go between two classrooms, but we put it in a better position, bringing the wall display down. So the whole part of that process was being consultative for the school, as well as the creative delivery agency, and also a strategic partner on the project.

 

 

The wall display is now a central feature in the school, ensuring every child sees it daily. It communicates the school’s values clearly, supports curriculum storytelling, and reinforces Thurgoland Primary School’s commitment to Christian faith, aspiration, and student success.
